Maersk Line Ltd., Norfolk in partnership with Rickmers Line America will use two multipurpose ships – Maersk Illinois and the Maersk Texas under the U.S flag for moving heavy cargo worldwide.
The two new multipurpose ships with 19,000 dwt will operate as Maersk-Rickmers U.S. Flag Project Carrier, or simply Maersk-Rickmers. The service would be fruitful for customers who need moving heavy size break bulk Cargo that requires heavy lift cranes.
These two vessels, which are build in China, will individually be twice in size as compared to the size of other vessels in the similar category operating in U.S region.
These new ships are currently under Marshal Island flag, and later both will be reflagged by Maersk Lines, an associated unit of A.P Moller Maersk group based at Copenhagen.
