Fleet Superintendent /Technical Superintendent - Maersk Global Service Centres, Mumbai GSC, India
The Maersk Global Service Centres are spread across 6 sites with strength of over 9500 employees. The GSC is responsible for facilitating & executing off-shoring primarily for Maersk Line, however also covering all other Business Units of the APMM Group. The GSC has been extremely successful in doubling its size over the past 2 years whilst at the same time improving the satisfaction as well as processes of our business partners.
In order for the GSC to adapt to the expected high growth in the coming years, we have created a scalable organization that allows for rapid growth combined with an enhanced ability to both standardize and deliver consistent processes & perform at a higher level. To enable the GSC to deliver on this, we are switching to a process based, organization – called the GSC 2.0 from 01st August 2011.
Introduction
Maersk Line Technical Vessel Operation (ML TVO) is responsible for Ship Management of all the Maersk Line and Safmarine owned container vessels. The operation is primarily conducted out of Copenhagen, Singapore, Newcastle and Mumbai.
We are looking for a Fleet Superintendent to be a part of our TVO2 team in Mumbai. As a Fleet Superintendent, you will be part of a Fleet Group team referring to the Fleet Group Manager and will be directly responsible for Ship Management of approximately 5 vessels. An opportunity is now available for a career-minded professional to join us as Fleet Superintendent, Technical Vessel Operations.
Job Responsibilities
· Responsible for daily ship management of vessels under responsibility.
· Ensure timely and sufficient support to vessels on all operational and technical matters at all times.
· Visit vessels and prepare inspection reports on vessels under responsibility.
· Ensure safety is top priority in all vessel operations.
· Prepare financial budgets for maintenance, repairs, stores, modifications and dry-dockings for vessels under responsibility.
· Responsible for cost control on ship management budget and explaining to Management any significant deviations from budgets for vessels under responsibility.
· Plan and coordinate inspection and execution of dry-docking for the vessels under TVO responsibility and as assigned.
· Ensure compliance with all relevant international and local regulations and that all vessel certification and surveys for class, flag and international requirements are maintained.
· Follow-up on the performance of the vessels under TVO responsibility and for arranging corrective actions to be carried out when necessary.
· Conduct performance appraisals for Masters and Chief Engineers serving onboard vessels under TVO responsibility.
· Close liaison with the Liner Operations as required on all aspects of the management of assigned vessels.
· In these tasks, the objectives of the Superintendent are to deliver the most effective and efficient ship management service in full alignment with objectives and work culture of the organization.
Candidate's Profile
· A Marine Engineering education and experience as Senior Marine Engineer.
· Preferably have experience as a Technical Superintendent managing Container vessels.
· Possess good communication skills and can work efficiently with multicultural teams ashore and on board.
· Work approach is diligent and organized, and you understand and accept the importance of cost effectiveness.
· Additionally should have enhanced problem solving skills and interest in tackling challenges with innovative solution and maximizing the use of resources available.
